Janet's father was Archibald Eaglesome and her mother was Marion Fulton.  Her maternal grandparents were William Fulton and Jean Urie. She had two brothers and six sisters, named Robert, Thomas, Jeannie, Isabel, Marion, Mary, Katrine and Agnes.  She was the third youngest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 82 on February 7th, 1884 in Paisley.²
