James' baptism took place on July 14th, 1771 in North Bradley.1  James' father was Joseph Read and his mother was Ann Bennet.  His maternal grandparents were Joseph Bennett and Grace. He had a brother and six sisters, named Charles, Susanna, Joanna, Susanna, Ann, Joanna and Joanna.
