Chales was born on January 14th, 1799 in North Bradley.1   Chales' father was Thomas Dainton and his mother was Mary Dix.  His paternal grandparents were Charles Dainton and Leah Loader; his maternal grandparents were Peter Dix and Mary Maggot. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Joseph, Lewis, John, Sarah and Mary.  He was the oldest of the six children.
