Reuben/Ruben Dye

Reuben/Ruben was born in 1768. Reuben/Ruben's father was Vincent Dye and his mother was Sarah Artepe. His paternal grandparents were John Laurens Dey and Ann Brown. He had ten brothers and four sisters, named Daniel, John, Vincent, Enoch, Brown, David, Rachael, Dussoway, Joseph, William, Uenice, Sara, Nancy and Catherine "Caty". He was the eleventh oldest of the fifteen children. He died at the age of 60 on May 23rd, 1828.

  "Dye Family- Reuben Dye(Ruben Dye is the way the name usually
  appeared on earlier records) settled on a large land survey at or near the mouth of Burning Springs Run, Several years before the organixation of Wood County. He was a wealthy man- for that day- and had a number of slaves, as well as several sons, to clear and improve his lands. He appears to have served in the war of 1812.
  
  At the time of his death (5-23-1828 or a little earllier, he provided his children with homes in the vicinity, an one son, Vincent Dye was married in 1809. Reuben Dye came from Prince William County, Virginia and he married Mary Riggs.
  
  That Reuben Dye was probably from Virginia is shown by his being a Slave Holder and also by the fact that the Dyes of Washington County, Ohio, were related in some way to him. There was Samuel, who came from Fairfax County Virginia and settled on Cow Run, of the Little Muskingum, and his sone Samuel who came from Bull Run, near Manassas, Virginia--)"

  Vincent was born in 1787. He died at the age of 27 in 1814.

    Brn 1787 in Middlesex County, New Jersey.
    Married September 6, 1808 to Elizabeth Petty.
    According to court records at Judicial Bldg. in Parkersburg, Wood County, WV., on Nov. 12, 1814, Elizabeth, administratrix, delivered an inventory of goods, chattels, & credits of Vincent Dye dec'd. So, he died before 1815.

  Benjamin was born in 1794. He died at the age of 88 on December 28th, 1882.

    Dusoway Dye was born in 1798 and appears in the1820 Census in Wood County, West Virginia (??). Married (1) Elizabeth Petty Dye (wife of Vincent Dye) When Elizabeth Petty Dye died, he married (2) Mary Elizabeth Board.
  Dennis Dye
  Dennis was born in 1801. He died at the age of 65 on June 20th, 1866.

    born 1801, and died Jun 20, 1866 in Ritchie County, West Virginia. He married ANN WEBB Dec 25, 1823 in Wood County, West Virginia.
    
    At least two of their sons, Benjamin and William, moved to Missouri and then to the Dallas, Texas area around 1850.
