Brown was born in 1755.  Brown's father was Vincent Dye and his mother was Sarah Artepe.  His paternal grandparents were John Laurens Dey and Ann Brown. He had ten brothers and four sisters, named Daniel, John, Vincent, Enoch, David, Rachael, Reuben/Ruben, Dussoway, Joseph, William, Uenice, Sara, Nancy and Catherine "Caty".  He was the fifth oldest of the fifteen children.  He died at the age of 70 on January 24th, 1825.
