William Jesse Mathews 
William Jesse was born on March 14th, 1876 in California. William Jesse's father was Benjamin Franklin Mathews and his mother was Mahala "Mahalie" Ann Whiteman. His maternal grandparents were David Waldo Whiteman and Martha Jane Bryant. He had three brothers and a sister, named Robert Lee, John David, Reuben Alexander and Anna. He was the second youngest of the five children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named George Headly and Martha Ellen. He died at 6 months old on October 13th, 1876 in California.General Notes
