Martha Jane was born in April 1852 in Henderson Co, TN.1   Martha Jane's father was Samuel Harrison Cary and her mother was Polly.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Cary and Elizabeth Roberts. She had six brothers and six sisters, named Abner Henry Harrison, James Monroe, Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Lafayette, John Millard Filmore, William Alfred, Elizabeth J., Sarah M., Charlotte Emarintha, Larcena, Mary E. Pricola and Moriah Marian.  She was the seventh oldest of the thirteen children.  She died in Henderson Co, TN.1
