Charlotte Emarintha was born in 1847 in Carroll Co, TN.1   Charlotte Emarintha's father was Samuel Harrison Cary and her mother was Polly.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Cary and Elizabeth Roberts. She had six brothers and six sisters, named Abner Henry Harrison, James Monroe, Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Lafayette, John Millard Filmore, William Alfred, Elizabeth J., Sarah M., Martha Jane, Larcena, Mary E. Pricola and Moriah Marian.  She was the fifth oldest of the thirteen children.
