Sarah Melissa Pitts 
Sarah Melissa was born on August 1st, 1861 in Benton County, Iowa.1 Sarah Melissa's father was Cadwallader Jones Pitts and her mother was Susan Jane Bryson. Her paternal grandparents were Cadwallader Pitts and Elizabeth Stanley; her maternal grandparents were John Fielding Bryson and Ellizabeth Sparger. She had six brothers and five sisters, named John Francis, Emery Franklin, Thomas Adolphus, Oliver Cromwell, Wilbern (William) Perry, C. Benjamin, Mary Eliza, Elizabeth Jane, Nora Isabelle, Josephine May and Corena Nevada. She was the fifth youngest of the twelve children. She died at the age of 71 on July 1st, 1933.1 -
