Ralph Edward was born on September 21st, 1913 in Bethel, Windsor County, VT.1 Ralph Edward's father was Herbert Everett. Owen and his mother was Bertha E. Derby. His paternal grandparents were David "Little David" Owen and Diancy Lamb; his maternal grandparents were James E. Derby and Emma C. Rider. He had two brothers and a sister, named James Raymond, David Herbert and Helen Louise. He died due to Bright's Disease at the age of 22 on September 17th, 1936 in Randolph, Orange County, VT.1 General Notes

Bearers were - four of his young friends Grant Bettis, Donald Davidson, Paul Webster and William Washburn.
He was a good worker despite the handicap of frail health which followed him throughout his entire short life. Bright's Disease developed at an early age, and was followed by anemia and a malarial condition. Seven weeks prior to his death, he was strucken with ulcers of the stomach and from that time his strength gradually but steadily failed until death realeased him from his suffering. Throughout most of his life he was tenderly cared for by his mother.
