Eleanore was born in October 1292 in Caerphilly Castle, Caerphilly, Glamorganshire, Wales.  Eleanore's father was Gilbert De Clare and her mother was Joan Plantagenet.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard De Clare and Maud De Lacy; her maternal grandparents were Edward Plantagenet and Eleanor Of Castile. She had a sister named Elizabeth.  She was the older of the two children. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Thomas and Marie.  She died at the age of 44 on June 30th, 1337 in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, England.  She was buried in Tewkesbury Abbey, Tewksbury, Gloucestershire, England.

‌Eleanore and Hugh were married in a religious ceremony after June 14th, 1306 in Westminster, London, Middlesex, England.  They had a son and a daughter, named Edward and Isabel le.
