Eleanor was born in 1122 in Chateau De Belin, Bordeaux, Aquitaine, France.  Eleanor's father was William VIII De Poitou and her mother was Eleanor De Chastellerault.  Her paternal grandparents were William VI De Poitou and Hildegarde De Burgundy Capet; her maternal grandparents were Aimery De Chastellerault and Dangereuse Agnes D'Lisle Bouchard.  She was an only child.  She died at the age of 80 on June 26th, 1202 in Poitiers, Poitou, France.  She was buried in Fontevrault l'Ab, Maine-et-Loire, France.


Eleanor's family with Henry II Plantagenet

‌Eleanor and Henry II were married in a religious ceremony on May 18th, 1153 in Bordeaux, Gironde, France.  They had a son and a daughter, named John and Eleanor.
