Marie was born in 1260 in Louvain, Brabant, France. Marie's father was Gilbert De Clare and her mother was Alice De Lusignan. Her paternal grandparents were Richard De Clare and Maud De Lacy; her maternal grandparents were Hugh De Lusignan and Isabella De Taillefer. She had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named William, Eleanore, Elizabeth and Eleanor. She died at the age of 61 on January 12th, 1321.-
