Nathaniel was born on February 4th, 1789 in Tunbridge, Orange, Vermont, USA.1 Nathaniel's father was Nathaniel Austin and his mother was Anna Merritt. His paternal grandparents were Nathaniel Austin and Abigail Richmond. He had five brothers named Edmund, Dan "Old Black Dan", UNKNOWN, Josiah and Francis. He was the second oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 66 on September 6th, 1855 in New Haven, Addison, Vermont, USA.
