Edward does not appear to be with his father on the 1800 Windham census. An Edward shows up with a family in Hebron Township, Washington County, New York, adjacent to Granville Township which has a Cornelius Dutcher. Probably, he had moved there and met Lydia, who was supposedly born there, though there is a more likely Granville in Addison County, I believe east of Cornwall. The household has two males under 10, one between 16 through 25 and one female 16 through 25. If this is correct, there are two Austin boys that I have not accounted for.  Edmund apparently shows up on the 1810 census for Crown Point, Essex County, New York, though there is another Edmund in Duchess County closer to southern New York. The Essex Edward has a male and female 26 through 44, and a female under 10, which at first glance would seem to be Edmund, Lydia, and Ann. Were the boys on the 1800 census out on their own now? Though I found a Christopher and Elisha in Essex County, they were born 26 to 44. There were an Amos and Ellis in Washington County, but they were also 26 to 44.  Edmund is on the 1820 Shoreham census, one male and two females under 10, one female 10-16, one male and one female 26-45, and one person engaged in agriculture. The people must be Daniel, Phoebe and Sarah, all under 10, possibly Ann 10-16, and of course Edmund and Lydia.  Edmund and Nathaniel had nine children in the Shoreham School District #6, in 1829. He had four children in district #6 in 1830, 1831, and 1832; three in district #15 in 1833; three in #12 (?) in 1834; and no children were mentioned again. His brother Dan had children in the same districts at the same time. I may not have all of Edmund's children, though.  Edmund's birth date is pretty consistent with 1778 except for the 1830 census. He is listed on the 1830 census as a resident of Shoreham, which is about 9 miles southwest of Cornwall. His household consists of three males, one under 5, one between 10 and 15, and one between 30 and 40. There are five females, one between 5 and 10, two between 10 and 15, one between 15 and 20, and one between 40 and 50. Sarah easily fits into this family because she would have been about 8 at this time. Figuring out who belongs here seems to be an insurmountable task, though the 15-20 year old female may well be Anna, Edmund and Lydia's daughter. She apparently stayed single and lived with them for years.  Edmund is also listed on the 1840 census in Shoreham. His household consists of one male between 50 and 60, and two females, one between 50 and 60, and one between 30 and 40. He aged more than 10 years between censuses. Also, where did the two boys and three of the girls disappear to? Sarah would have been gone, probably. Perhaps this is Edmund, wife Lydia, and daughter Anna. Perhaps some of the them grew up and moved away or were with relatives. Edmund's brother Dan, has a house full on the 1850 census, so some of them might be Edmund's children, specifically, Horace.  I have an old letter that states that Edmund and Lydia lived on the "Treadway place and were always employed by Treadway". The 1840 census finds Edward on page 166, Daniel and Josiah Austin families on page 167. The Lewis, Joseph, and Alanson Treadway families are also on page 167. The 1830 census does not show them quite as close, but the census taker may be taking a different route.  The 1850 Shoreham census shows him as age 72, born in Vermont, Lydia 65, born in New York, and Anna 44, born in Vermont.  He is on the 1860 Shoreham census, age 70, Lydia 71, and Anna 50. All are born in Vermont. Edward lost a year during the decade, Lydia and Anna gained only six years.  Edward is on the Cornwall census in 1870 with son Daniel and Mary. Edward is 84, "Libbie" 81, and Anna appears to be 70. All except Dan were born in Vermont.
