Joan De was born in Ludlow, Shropshire, England.  Joan De's father was Piers de Geneville and her mother was Joan Lusignan.  Her paternal grandparents were Geoffrey de Geneville , Lord Geneville and Maud de Lacy; her maternal grandfather is Hugh Xii De Lusignan and her maternal grandmother was Jeanne De Fougeres. She had two sisters named Beatrice De (Joinville) and Maud De. She had a half-brother named Geoffry De.  She died on October 19th, 1356.
