LaFayette M. was born on November 6th, 1836 in Kanawha County, Virginia. LaFayette M.'s father was Paul Shaver and his mother was Caroline Sarah Harper. His paternal grandparents were Paul Shaver and Catherine Riffle; his maternal grandfather was Charles Harper. He had three brothers and a sister, named Paul, Thomas, David and Mary. He was the youngest of the five children. He died at the age of 77 on June 27th, 1914 in Poca District, Sissionville, West Virginia.General Notes
