Dessie Mae Shepherd 
Dessie Mae was born on May 18th, 1922 in Crawford Co., Arkansas.1 Dessie Mae's father was Grover Cleveland Shepherd and her mother was Lula Beatrice Basham. Her maternal grandparents were Monroe Moses Basham and Martha Jane Williams. She had six brothers and two sisters, named George Washington, William Arby, Winfrey Monroe, Haskell, Truman Oscar, Duel Cleveland, Ruby Elizabeth and Nellie Opal. She was the second youngest of the nine children. She died at the age of 28 on August 21st, 1950. She was buried in Bixby, Oklahoma.1 1 General Notes
