Minnie was the first child born to William and Sarah (Cates) Odell. S
he w as born in Carter County, Missouri on June 19, 1870. Minnie marri
ed Antho ny Kirkland when she was 20 years old and Anthony was 40. Antho
ny di ed in 1899 at the age of 49, leaving Minnie with 4 children under t
he a ge of 8. Minnie married second, Donald Collins in 1905. Donald a
nd Minn ie and her children moved to Washington State and lived in sever
al towns b efore settling in Everett, Washington. Minnie was a seamstress

Minnie Odell Collins, 72, died at her home at 2509 Harrison avenue e
ar ly Monday following a lingering illness. Mrs. Collins was born in Ca
rt er County, Missouri, June 19, 1870, and had resided in Everett since 1
90 7. She was a member of the Columbia chapter No. 33, O.E.S. (Ord
er of t he Eastern Stars) of Everett. Surviving are her husband, Donald C
olli ns of 2509 Harrison avenue; a daughter, Mrs. Lenora O. Woods of Tacom
a; th ree sons, Joseph F. Kirkland of Dryden, Lawrence A. Kirkland of Pine
hurs t, and Erwin M. Kirkland of 2424 Baker avenue; a sister, Mrs. Zoe B
ea rd of Leeper, Missouri; a brother, Joseph Odell residing in Missouri; e
ig ht grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services wi
ll be a nnounced later from the funeral home of Purdy & Walters.
