Lenora was born in Kirkland, Arkansas, a small town in the sout
he rn part of the state.  It was a mill town named after the Kirkland rela
tiv es.  When she was four years old, her father, Anthony Kirkland, die
d.  Len ora was the only daughter and she had 3 brothers.  Lawrence and Er
win we re older and Joseph was younger.   Minnie met Donald Collins and w
as marri ed in 1905.  The family moved to the State of Washington.  Aft
er Lenora gr aduated from eight grade, she attended business college in We
natchee.  Len ora was a legal secretary, for a lawyer, in Cashmere, Washin
gton.  Leno ra was engaged to be married when her fiance caught the flu a
nd died in t he flu epidemic of 1918.  Four years later, she went to vis
it a girl frie nd in Tacoma and she met Raymond Woods.  Raymond and Leno
ra were married a nd had their only child, Anita.  Lenora didn't work duri
ng the early yea rs of their marriage.  They later separated, and Lenora r
aised Anita by he rself.  She went to work for the Washington Co-op.  S
he was the boss for t he women who candled eggs.  They would hold up the e
ggs to a light looki ng for fertilized eggs or double or triple yolks.   S
he worked this job un til 1947.  She moved to Yakima to live with Jimmy a
nd Anita.  Lenora suffe red a  cerebral hemorrhage and died at age 56.  S
he died the same night Dw ight D. Eisenhour was elected president.

Mrs. Lenora Woods, 55, of Yakima, formerly of Tacoma; died Thur
sd ay in Yakima.  She had lived in Tacoma for many years prior to movi
ng to Y akima three years ago.
Born in Kirkland, Arkansas, Mrs. Woods was a member of the Baptist ch
ur ch.  She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. James Finney of Yakima, and t
wo g randchildren.
Services will be held Monday at 1 P.M. in the Buckley-King Co. Chap
el w ith burial following in the New Tacoma cemetery.
