William was born on February 14th, 1831 in ,,VA. William's father was George Crosby and his mother was Martha Anderson. His paternal grandparents were George Crosby and Susanna Evans. He has two brothers and two sisters, named George A, Levi, Mary and Sarah. He is the third oldest of the five children.
