James was born on March 4th, 1845 in ,,IN. James' father was George Crosby and his mother is Mary Detrich. His paternal grandparents were George Crosby and Susanna Evans. He had four brothers and six sisters, named John, Amos, Jacob, Robert, Susannah, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Martha, Annie and Margaret. He is the third oldest of the eleven children. He has three half-brothers and three half-sisters, named George A, Levi, William, Hannah, Mary and Sarah.General Notes
