Marregrietjen was born on September 24th, 1741 and her baptism took place on October 11th, 1741 in Hackensack, Bergen, Dutch Ref. Ch, N.J. Marregrietjen's father was Lucas Van Voorhees and her mother was Annatie Kip. Her paternal grandparents were Albert Van Voorhees and Magdaleena (Helena) Van Der Schure; her maternal grandparents were Nicasius KIP and Annetje (Antie) Breyandt. She had six brothers and four sisters, named Albert, Henrik Voor Heyzen, Catrientje, Nikausie (Nicholas), Isaak, Jacob, Antje, Lena, Elizabeth and Catharine.
