Louis IV was born in Laon, Champagne, France.  Louis IV's father was III Charles and his mother was Ogive Eadgina of England.  His paternal grandparents were Louis II 'The Stammerer' and Luitgarde of Saxony; his maternal grandparents were Edward the Elder and Queen of England Ælflaeda. He had four half-brothers and nine half-sisters, named Amulph, Drogo, Bishop of Laon, I, Princess of France, Princess of France, Princess of France, Princess of France, Princess of France, Duchess of Normandy, Alpais, Bonne Adelaide and Agnaes.  He was buried in Abbaye De St. Rbemy, Reims, Champagne.
