Maud de was born about 1279 in Wilton Castle, Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, England.  Maud de's father was Reynold De Grey 1st Lord Grey Of Wilton and her mother was Maud De Longchamp.  Her paternal grandparents were Sheriff John De Grey and Emma De Cauz; her maternal grandparents were Henry De Longchamp Sir and Joan. She had a brother named John.  She was the younger of the two children.

‌Maud de and John 1st Baron de were married in a religious ceremony before 1302 in 2nd wife.1   They had six sons and a daughter, named Nicholas de, Roger 3rd Baron de, Roger de, John de, John II, John 4th Baron de and Joan de.
