John 1st Baron de was born in Cadbury, Tiverton, Somerset, England.1   John 1st Baron de's father was Roger de Moels , of Cadbury & Maperton, Sir Knt.  His paternal grandparents were Nicholas de Moels , of Watlington & Cadbury and Hawise de Newmarch , Heiress of Cadbury. He had two brothers named Vincent de and Roger de.  He died on May 20th, 1310 in Maperton, Wincanton, Somerset, England.2

‌John 1st Baron de and Maud de were married in a religious ceremony before 1302 in 2nd wife.3   They had six sons and a daughter, named Nicholas de, Roger 3rd Baron de, Roger de, John de, John II, John 4th Baron de and Joan de.
