Amice was born in 1160 in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, England.  Amice's father was William Of Gloucester Fitzrobert Earl Of Gloucester and her mother was Hawise De Beaumont.  Her paternal grandparents were Robert (The King's Son') De Caen and Maud (Mabel) (Sibyl) Fitzhammon; her maternal grandparents were Robert ('Bossu') De Beaumont and Amice De Gael. She had a brother and three sisters, named Robert, Hawise, Mabel and Isabella Of. She had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Roger IV De, Philip De, Oliver De, Sedzilla Alice and Letitia De.
