Margaret de was born in October 1292 in Caerphilly Castle, Kent, England..  Margaret de's father was Gilbert de Clare and her mother was Joan "of Acre" Plantagenet.  Her paternal grandparents were Earl Sir Richard of Gloucester Clare and Maud Lacy; her maternal grandparents were King Edward I "Longshanks" King of England and Eleanor (Alianore Leanor) of Castile.  She was an only child.  She died at the age of 49 on April 9th, 1342 in France.
