Isabel was born on October 9th, 1200 in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales.  Isabel's father was Earl William of Pembroke Marshal and her mother was Isabel Clare.  Her paternal grandparents were John Fitz Gilbert Marshall and Sibyl Devereux; her maternal grandparents were Earl Richard of Pembroke (Strongbow) Clare and Aoife (Eve) of Leinster. She had four sisters named Margaret Fitz Gilbert, Maud, Eva and Sybil.  She was the second youngest of the five children.  She died in Birkhampstead, Hertfordshire, England.  She was buried in Beaulieu, Southampton, England.
