Matthew Jones was born on August 22nd, 1845 in Heflin, Randolph Co., AL.1 Matthew Jones' father was William Parson Evans and his mother was Elizabeth Ann McEwen. His paternal grandparents were John Evans and Elizabeth McCurry; his maternal grandparents were Robert Bort McEwen and Rachel Hawkins. He had thirteen brothers and two sisters, named Alexander Thomas, John Murroe, James Kirkham, William Henry, Robert, Greenbury Garrett, John, Hiram Martin, Isaac, Asbury, Wesley, Mathew Jones, Joseph M., Margaret and Elizabeth. He was the second youngest of the sixteen children. He died at the age of 80 in February 1926 in Heflin, Randolph Co., AL.1 -
