Goldie Cecil was born on April 2nd, 1892 in Monroe County, Indiana. Goldie Cecil's father was George Washington Shields and her mother was Luella Richardson. Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Lindsey Shields and Eliza Jane Whitsell. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Ambrose W., Fred Colon, Frank G. Shields, Alva, Ferbia Mae, Ruby, Maude and Hespa O.. She was the oldest of the nine children. She died at the age of 85 on October 11th, 1977 in Monroe County, Indiana. She was buried in Mt. Gilead Cemetery, Bloomington, Indiana.-
