Joseph Self

Joseph was born about 1818 in Gap Creek, Greene, Tennessee.  Joseph's father was Jesse Self and his mother was Agnes Dobson.  His paternal grandparents were Joseph Self and Elizabeth; his maternal grandfather was John Dobson. He had five brothers and a sister, named Elijah R., Robert D., Josiah, Lewis, Reese V. and Lucinda.  He was the second youngest of the seven children.
