Alfred Melton Kite 
Alfred Melton was born in 1830 in Virginia. Alfred Melton's father was David Kite and his mother was Marie Kauffman. His paternal grandparents were Martin Kite and Catharine Kiser. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Francis David, John W., Alexander, Thomas Oscar, Harvey, Eliza Jane, Virginia Ann, Nancy and Sarah. He was the oldest of the ten children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Charles and Mary.-
