Thomas was born on July 16th, 1776 in Barrington, Nova Scotia.  Thomas' father was John Spinney and his mother was Susan Snow.  His maternal grandparents are Nathan Snow and Mary Polly. He had two brothers and five sisters, named John, William, Sarah, Mary, Susan, Elizabeth and Deborah.  He was the oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 69 in 1845 in Port Latour, Nova Scotia.
