Mary was born on April 9th, 1786 in Barrington, Nova Scotia.  Mary's father was John Spinney and her mother was Susan Snow.  Her maternal grandparents are Nathan Snow and Mary Polly. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, John, William, Sarah, Susan, Elizabeth and Deborah.  She was the fourth oldest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 26 in March 1813 in Barrington, Nova Scotia.
