Sarah was born on July 15th, 1779 in Barrington, Nova Scotia.  Sarah's father was John Spinney and her mother was Susan Snow.  Her maternal grandparents are Nathan Snow and Mary Polly. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, John, William, Mary, Susan, Elizabeth and Deborah.  She was the second oldest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 40 in 1819.
