Her paternal grandparents were Johann Gottlob Joachim Goerhold and Marie Elisabeth Sandnerin. She had seven half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Daniel, John David, Jacob B, Charles, Peter D, George Washington, Andrew Jackson, Katharine (Catherine?) Wilhelmina, Elisabeth, Rebecca and Susenna (Susan).
