John was born on August 5th, 1903 in Wallal, near Charleville, Queensland.  John's father was Christopher Johann Neilson and his mother was Minnie Sommerfield.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Andrew Neilson and ? ?; his maternal grandparents were Robert Sommerfield and Isabella Dodd. He had three brothers and two sisters, named William, Arthur, Henry, Molly and Annie.  He was the second oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 51 on April 28th, 1955 in Brisbane, Queensland.



John's family with Edith Mary Kruger

‌John and Edith were married in a religious ceremony on January 1st, 1927 in Methodist Church, Pittsworth, Queensland.  They had a daughter named Ruth.
