Robert was born in 1894. Robert's father was Walter Shirley (11th Earl Ferrers) and his mother was Mary Moon. His paternal grandparents were Rev. Walter Shirley and Philippa Knight. He was an only child. He died at the age of 60 in 1954.General Notes
Robert Walter Shirley, 12th Earl Ferrers
He succeeded to the title of 18th Baronet Shirley, of Staunton Harold [E., 1611] on 2 February 1937.1 He succeeded to the title of 12th Earl Ferrers [G.B., 1711] on 2 February 1937.1 He succeeded to the title of 12th Viscount Tamworth, of co. Stafford [G.B., 1711] on 2 February 1937.1
