He was Regius Professor of Ecclesiastical History at Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He graduated from Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Doctor of Divinity (D.D.).1 He held the office of Canon of Christ Church.1 He had another son (died young) and two daughters (who both died unmarried).
