Walter was born in 1797. Walter's father was Rev. Walter Shirley and his mother was Alice Newenham. His paternal grandparents were Rev. Walter Shirley and Henrietta Maria Phillips. He was an only child. He died at the age of 50 in 1847.General Notes
Rt. Rev. Walter Augustus Shirley
He graduated from New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).1 He held the office of Prebendary of Lichfield.1 He held the office of Archdeacon of Derby between 1841 and 1846.1 He graduated from New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1846 with a Doctor of Divinity (D.D.).1 He held the office of Bishop of Sodor and Man on 10 January 1847.8
