David was born in 1144.  David's father was Henry of Scotland (3rd Earl of Northum.) and his mother was Ada de Warenne.  His paternal grandparents were David I (King of Scots) and Mathilda of Huntingdon; his maternal grandparents were William de Warenne (2nd Earl of Surrey) and Elizabeth de Vermandois. He had two brothers and a sister, named Malcolm IV, The Lion and Margaret.  He was the second youngest of the four children.  He died at the age of 75 in 1219.
