Ferdinand I was born on March 10th, 1503.  Ferdinand I's father was Philip I “The Handsome” (King of Castile) and his mother was Joanna “The Mad” (Queen of Aragon).  His paternal grandparents were Maximilian I (Holy Roman Emperor) and Mary (Duchess of Burgundy); his maternal grandparents were Ferdinand II (King of Aragon) and Isabella I (Queen of Castille). He had a brother and two sisters, named Charles I, Eleanor and Catherine.  He was the second youngest of the four known children.  He died at the age of 61 on July 25th, 1564.
