Miles was born in 1657.  Miles' father was Alexander Standish and his mother was Sarah Alden (Standish).  His paternal grandparents were Myles Standish and Barbara Mullens or Allen; his maternal grandparents were John Alden and Priscilla Mullins (Alden). He had two brothers and five sisters, named Ebenezer, David , Lydia, Lora, Mercy, Elizabeth and Sarah.  He was the third oldest of the eight children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Thomas, Ichabod and Desire.
