Desire was born on May 5th, 1689.  Desire's father was Alexander Standish and her mother was Desire Doty (Standish).  Her paternal grandparents were Myles Standish and Barbara Mullens or Allen; her maternal grandfather was Edward Doty and her maternal grandmother is Faith Clark (Doty). She had two brothers named Thomas and Ichabod.  She was the oldest of the three children. She had three half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Miles, Ebenezer, David , Lydia, Lora, Mercy, Elizabeth and Sarah.
