Mary's father was Samuel Williams and her mother was Ann Millington.  Her paternal grandparents were John Williams and Elizabeth Broughton; her maternal grandparents were John Millington and Margaret Youd. She had two brothers and six sisters, named John, Samuel, Elizabeth, Ann, Ann, Rachel, Margaret and Frances.  She was the oldest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 75 in December 1866 in Holywell.²
