Joseph was born in 1756 in Kirkheaton and his baptism took place there on June 7th, 1756.1  Joseph's father was Emanuel Stocks and his mother was Susanna (Hannah) Wood.  His paternal grandparents were Joshua Stocks and Elizabeth Bingley. He had eight brothers and four sisters, named Isaac, Peter, Benjamin, Joseph, Emanuel, Ruth, Thomas, Michael, Mary, Susanah, Martha and Elizabeth.  He died at the age of 2 in March 1758 in Kirkheaton.  His burial was on March 30th, 1758 in Kirkheaton.2
