Wilfred was born in March 1890 in Rumworth.

Birth Notes

Wilfred's father was James Howcroft and his mother was Hannah Mather. His maternal grandparents were William Mather and Margaret Gerrard. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Albert, Herbert, Fred, Frank, Elizabeth and Clara. He was the third oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 1 in 1891 in Farnworth.¹
