Jane was born in 1810 in Shocklach and her baptism took place there on April 1st, 1810.1 2  Jane's father was Robert Hopley and her mother was Margaret Richards.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Hopley and Catherine Lewis; her maternal grandparents were Richard Richards and Anne Phythian. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Robert, Thomas, William, Samuel, Anne, Margaret and Margaret.  She was the youngest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 57 in December 1867 in Birkenhead.3

‌Jane and George were married in a commitment ceremony on September 13th, 1831 in Shocklach.6  They were also married in a religious ceremony on November 3rd, 1831 in Shocklach by Curate C. W. W. Egton and witnessed by William Brereton & Margaret Hopley.7  They had seven sons and four daughters, named Richard, William, Robert, George, John, Charles, Thomas, Ann, Margaret, Mary and Jane.  There are no more children.
