Ellen Bentley

Ellen was born in May 1848 in Edgworth and her baptism took place on July 30th, 1848 at St. Anne (Turton).¹²

Ellen's father was Andrew Bentley and her mother was Jenny (Jane) Mather. Her maternal grandparents were James Mather and Rachel Hamer. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Henry, Andrew, James, Ann, Jane and Alice. She was the oldest of the seven children. She had a half-brother named Abel.
